Vermil arrow nocks are made from... a durable modern Polycarbonate plastic, yet they are accurately modeled after the historic nocks used in ancient Asian and Eastern horse archery. We offer Vermil arrow nocks in three different sizes and three different designs. The Y Nock is the more slender design with a flared opening and surprising durability. Offered in press-in carbon arrow nock model only. The V Nock features a wider mouth opening and shorter groove, meaning swifter nocking of your arrow. Offered in a press-in carbon arrow model, and glue-on wood arrow model. The U Nock is inspired by the traditional Turkish nock and features a slope interior designs for quick, hassle-free nocking of your arrow. Offered in .246" press-in carbon arrow model only. The M Nock is inspired by the arrows used during the Qing Dynasty in China. Great for those seeking to create historically accurate replica arrows, or those who simply want some unique styling on their arrows. Offered in 0.246" Carbon only. The press-in arrow nocks fit carbon arrows with an inside diameter of .2445" and .246". This will fit most standard size carbon arrows. VERMIL GLUE-ON NOCKS ARE NOT LEGAL FOR SCA PERIOD-STYLE SHOOTS. No glue-on nocks of any type are legal at this time for period-style shoots by Society-level rules. Only Vermil insert nocks are legal for SCA period-style shoots in cane or bamboo arrows. All Vermil nocks are acceptable for Royal Rounds and any other open-category shooting at SCA tournaments or practices. I have used… read more the glue-on V nocks in SCA open-category shooting for two years now, and think they are really great. The wide nock opening is a real plus on timed shooting. For period-style shoots I have to switch to my self-nocked arrows.

These nocks are great if you want to get an arrow from the quiver and into the target as quickly as possible. I have both the Y and the V nocks. The V nocks are very slightly easier/faster to get on the string but are also thicker between the fingers (I shoot split finger. I personally prefer the Y nocks as they feel slender between the shooting fingers like most common carbon nocks… read more but have a much wider mouth that definitely aids in developing a fast and smooth draw cycle for very fast follow up shots.
