Gateway Shield Cut Feather fletchings are 100% natural, real turkey feathers. They're perfect for improving accuracy. Feather fletchings offer increased arrow speeds and flatter trajectories than artificial fletchings. Feathers can also increase the usable spine range of your arrows, and decrease y...our chances of brush deflection. Plus, feathers are up to 500% lighter than plastic vanes. Shield cut in 5" is the single most popular feather length and cut in traditional archery. Shield cut has slightly more surface area compared to parabolic cut, which will make arrows fletched with shield feathers a touch more stable in flight than those fletched with parabolic cut feathers. Parabolic cut is a little bit quieter in flight as wind has less surface area to grab on too. Gateway Feathers come in 4" or 5" in a variety of colors, with left wing and right wing available. Specify your preferences in the drop down menus. What Wing Feather to Shoot? It is an old belief that a Right handed (RH) shooter must shoot Left wing (LW) so the arrow spins away from the riser on release. This is not the case. An arrow only starts spinning once it is several feet in front of the bow, so feel free to shoot Left or Right wing.
