Turns out they do make 'em like they used to! This outstanding recurve is modeled after the ever famous Kodiak of 1959. Ask around and you're certain to hear tales of this legendary bow! In the past it was considered the bow of choice for many bowhunters. Today the 1959 Kodiak is certain to be your ...choice for a bowhunting bow as well. This 60" recreation of the classic Kodiak features a satin finish, leather grip, large profile leather strike plate, and a forgiving feather arrow rest. Riser: Radiused, cut-past center shelf. I-Beam construction of Purple Heart with Bolivian Rosewood on the sides. Back of the grip is capped with brown and white fiberglass accents. Limbs: fashioned with action Maple cores, faced with caramel colored glass and backed with a brown glass sleekly radiused for precision shooting. Tips - layered with brown and white fiberglass, and hand finished to accommodate modern bow strings. String: D97 Flemish string. Options: Right handed in 55# or left handed in 40#. Please Note: A different tint of color, different grain in the wood, and even "birthmarks" are common in this bow. You may receive a bow that looks different from the one pictured. Please be aware of this when ordering. If you would like a particular look, include a note on your order to contact you, or call us at 260-587-9501 to describe the particular look you would prefer. Choose from a left or right hand bow (choose based on what hand you Draw the bow string with), and bow weight at a 28" draw length. Remember that with a traditional bow the weight will change depending upon what your draw length is. Bow weight will change approximately ±2½ pounds for every inch from a bows rated draw length. So a bow rated 45# @ 28" bow is roughly a 42½# @ 27" or 47½# @ 29". Draw weight is marked at the nearest 5# increment to actual weight, (2#'s under and 3#'s over). This is an industry wide standard. Bow stringer not included. A bow stringer is recommended for stringing any recurve bow or longbow. Stringing a bow without a bow stringer, or stringing it backwards will void a bow's warranty. Click here to see our Bow Stringers. It is recommended to unstring your bow if you do not plan to be shooting more than week. Store your bow on its side, or hanging vertically from a peg. Never rest the bow on the lower tip for extended periods of time. Never dry fire the bow (shooting without an arrow). 3RIVERS SERVICE: Bow Set-up Click here for Bear Archery Traditional Bow Owner's Manual Read about Longbow & Recurve Set-up

Amazing bow
This is my fourth Fred Bear bow and it was the most expensive. I am comparing it to a Grizzly, AuSable, and Montana. Now I know why the 59' Kodiak is the most expensive of the four. . It is a true gem of a bow. Light weight, beautifully crafted, a pleasure to shoot, fast, and hard hitting. I suspect this will prove to be my favorite. Five thumbs up for Fred Bear Archery for bringing… read more back this classic recurve.
Great Bow
Bite the arrow and get one...
Pictures don't do this bow justice! Shoots great too
Couldn't believe how beautiful this bow was when I got it. Setup was a breeze, and shoots with power and ease.
My favorite bow
I have several bows but this is the one I return to again and again. My bow is 40# and shoots 400 carbons with 145 grain points as well as Bear Razor heads with aluminium inserts with excellent accuracy.
A thing of beauty
Hunting,I love the vintage design,so light in the hand.
This bow is beautiful and shoots great.
Awesome all round bow. Very pleased with this product. I may have to buy another one because my son shoots it all the time
I would suggest putting in a back order for one. We are not getting complete orders from Bear, so though we are getting them in, they are not in numbers where we have extras, or if so they are being purchased immediately. We authorize your card, but do not charge it until the bow ships out to the customer.
It would be in that range yes. You gain 2 to 3 pounds for every inch.
Bear is hoping to be caught up by the summer time.
7" to 8" is what Bear recommends
It will have a flat shelf with a radiused feather rest to shoot off of. The feather rest works great.
I would recommend in a 7 1/2 to 8 inches for the Bear Kodiak 60 inch recurve.
Bear only offers a Satin Finish now.
It is much different this has a lower wrist grip and very narrow almost like a longbow.
Yes when you get ready to order your order bow please give us a call and speak with one of our Technical Expert and we can help to get the weight that you are looking for.
No it is mainly cosmetic.
